Has it been long enough? Are you over the fact that one of TV’s best shows is over? I’m sure not.
I’ll admit I have found other entertaining TV shows such as True Detective or the Wire, but deep down I know there will never be another show that will replace Breaking Bad. I think one of the main reasons why it was so great, was the fact there was a clear vision from day one. The writers knew that there was no way to drag the show out for years on end, and the fact that their fanbase wouldn’t stand for that. Having closure is such a powerful aspect to a great TV series. Nobody wants to watch Lost again, mainly because it was a massive let down. The build was excellent but the ending was proof the writers we’re making it up on the go. Breaking Bad didn’t do that. They respected their viewership and ended a great story with class.
I’ll admit, I have never been one to buy Box Sets. I remember back when all TV shows started selling complete series on DVD, I would just laugh and ask why bother? Who needs the complete first season of the Simpsons or Family Guy? Seems like a waste of money. Yet the Breaking Bad Box Set is so much different. Not only does it come in an awesome replica money barrel, but it has over 55 hours of special features from all seasons. Yeah… 55! That’s insane. I would’ve been happy with 10 hours of extra stuff, but 55 hours is nuts. There is also a 16 page booklet with letter from the genius himself Vince Gilligan. Along with a two-hour documentary and a Commemorative challenge coin designed by Vince Gilligan.
The barrel that holds all this stuff including the entire season is about a foot tall and six inches across, making it a pretty significant object as far as movie cases go. It has enough presence that you could display it on it’s own, but fortunately it’s not too imposing that it forces you to. The two “ribs” on the barrel have a flat spot by the hinges to allow to the door to open, and it and the hinges double as a kind of foot that allows you to turn it on it’s side, and put it on the shelf with your other movies with the BrBa logo facing out. Slick little piece of design right there. When on it’s side its about an inch shorter than a regular Blu-ray case.
You got to check it out!!
